My degree project adapts the Aztec creation myth to a pixel platformer game. The main character is Quetzalcoatl, the "feathered serpent", who wanders to Mictlan (underworld) to collect the bones for the creation of humankind. During his quest he faces the army of Mictlantecutli (Lord of Underworld) and the traps on the levels. At the end of the story, goddess Cihucoatl helps him to achieve his goal to create mankind. In the game she provides information about levels and new abilities.
The nine challanges of the myth were adapted to nine unique maps, where difficulty increases by the advancement of the player, who has to memorize game mechanisms, which are based on rythm and reflexes, to complete each level. While playing the game, players can lean about Aztec culture and mythology through a relaxed experience.
The name of the game came from the Aztec word "OTLI", which means path or road.
