His life was full of self-sacrifice and resignations with Kassák, who kept lovers by his side. At age fifty, he published the volume “A Gift for the Woman”,  whose poems were not addressed to his wife. Jolán was broken. 1938. on September 25, he drank a bottle of brandy in the kitchen of their apartment, then turned on the gas tap on himself. Kassák could never process his wife’s death.
