Positive absence
Do Nothing
Based on the state of contemplation, the momentary halt of purposeful activities, my meditative installation tries to transcend the stereotypical perceptions of emptiness. It's core is a manually cut surface, a paper spiral. The graphical space, created by the shift in scale and the play of lights, articulates the installation as a moving and abstract, onamental and clean illustration. The void cut into the paper also produces images, allocating further rewritings in still frames.
The work tries to offer a private experience, the possibility of the void, the opportunity of not doing anything.
The planning and execution was preceded by a meticulous research process, which involved the examination of the shadows
cast by the enlarged and reduced pattens of natural motifs. The graphic space, created by the changing scales and the play of light,
also allows for the installation to be interpreted as a sort of moving, abstract, but at the same time onamental and clear illustration.
Creating the project manually through a series of cut outs took me a particularly long time and continuous, intense concentration,
the process of which was itself a meditative activity.
